Friday night, my husband took our kids trick or treating. The second and 3rd child stayed and have a serious talk with a computer program. They missed all those candies!

Saturday night, I stayed up updating my iPod books, catching up on laundry, planning menu, and sweeping my floors. I made it to bed at 5 something AM. Of course, my baby was very perky and handed me my glasses with an order to get off the bed because it's 'good morning already." I had only 2 hours of sleep.

I woke up to phone calls from our repairman to fix my sidings. When I have lots of money someday, I will build a house with nary a siding in site, I tell you! It's much cheaper if I manage the repair and pay for labor. I spent the following:

Can you tell I like keeping records? I'm not very good at it, but I thought I'd try.
21.00 truck rental because sidings harditrim is 16 feet
61.00 scaffolding rental
141.00 harditrim + trim boards
64.00 hammer, nails, insulation board ( I bought one too many at $7.79 each)
--------
287.00 total materials
Labor will probably be somewhere around 8 hours of 18 dollars per hour for two people. I'm just guessing here. I don't negotiate that. That could be another 144 to 200 dollars. Labor is almost always more expensive than materials for any small job.

I rented a nail gun for about 80 dollars for one day. The only problem was, it requires nail bullets, which only comes in huge boxes for about 70 bucks. There's only 11 siding boards, it not proportional. I talk my helpers into hammering and nailing instead. This is the picture of the compressor.

I thought the people at Home Depot were treating me like a brainless girl, but that's alright. I got what I wanted, and returned what I didn't need. It just took much longer than I had thought. Next time, it won't take so long. I'd know a little bit. I think the sidings on my front needed doing soon.
